Slow Cooker Chicken Tacos – Crockpot Chicken Tacos Recipes

You need to use chicken breasts, jarred salsa, a few spices and tacos to make this wonderful recipe.

The preparation time for this wonderful recipe is just less than 5 minutes. Dump all the ingredients inside the slow cooker, and it will do its magic. It’s best to use chicken breasts to make this recipe.

You can also use boneless skinless thighs. The cooking time may differ when you use chicken thighs instead of chicken breasts. You can use homemade taco seasoning to make this recipe.

It involves a combination of cumin powder, chili powder, chipotle powder, salt, cayenne, pepper and garlic powder.

Use corn or flour tortilla along with toppings like red onion and cilantro to make slow cooker chicken tacos.

Ingredients Required

  • 2 lb boneless and skinless chicken breasts.
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 16 oz Salsa
  • 1/8th teaspoon of cayenne.
  • 1/4th teaspoon of black pepper
  • ½ teaspoon of salt
  • One teaspoon of chipotle powder
  • One teaspoon of garlic powder
  • 1 ½ teaspoon of cumin
  • Two teaspoons of chilli powder

For serving

  • Eight corn tortillas
  • For toppings, you require avocado, red onion, sour cream, cheddar cheese, lettuce, tomato and guacamole

Preparation Method

  1. You need to place the chicken breasts at the bottom of the cooker. Then you have to pour salsa and water on it. 
  2. Sprinkle all the seasonings and then close the lid. You have to cook on high for 2-3 hours and on low for 3-4 hours.
  3. When the chicken is fully cooked, shred it with forks. Now its time when you can put your seasonings that you like and other ingredients and having all of them give it a quick stir.
  4. After that in the last step you can assemble the tacos, and if you like you can char the tacos. To assemble, place the cooked chicken and the toppings in the tacos and have them in your meal with your loved ones.

This is my favorite recipe for lunch and meals, I simply prepare them and have them while on work or with family.
