Since it is a saying that there is a child in everyone, nobody can outgrow baking cookies for Christmas with your grandma.

But since times have changed, so has the recipe for making some delicious soft sugar cookies. It is simpler and less time-consuming so you can utilize time in eating them with your family rather than baking them.

So, without wasting any time, let’s make some cookies.

  • Time required for preparation: 25-39 minutes
  • Time required for cooking: 7-10 minutes
  • Calories: 125 kcal per serving

Ingredients

  • Light brown sugar (2 tablespoons)
  • Large egg (1)
  • Vanilla extract (2 tablespoons)
  • Sugar (1/4 cup)
  • All-purpose flour (358 grams)
  • Baking soda (1/2 tablespoon)
  • Salt (1/2 tablespoon)
  • Unsalted butter (224 grams)
  • Granulated sugar (233 grams)
  • Baking powder (1/2 tablespoon)

Instructions

  • Start with preheating your oven to about 350-degreeFahrenheit. Keep your baking sheet or silicone baking mats in line.
  • Now take your all-purpose flour and add baking soda, baking powder as well as some salt in a bowl. Proceed to mix it well.
  • In another bowl, take your butter and sugar which you will have to cream together at medium speed. Do these until you see the colour change to a lighter version and the mixture becomes soft and fluffy?
  • Time to throw in your egg and mix again until it is well combined.
  • Take the vanilla extract now and add it to the mixture. Also, add your dry ingredients into the bowl and keep it on medium speed until all the items are well bonded. The mixture shouldn’t be sticky but thick and for this, you must make sure that you don’t end up over mixing.
  • Take out the mixture once it is done and make it into a cohesive ball.
  • Now as per your requirement create your cookie balls out of the dough and gently roll them into a ball and keep them on the parchment paper.
  • Add your additional sugar before they are put in the oven. Make sure not to put them very close to each other as the dough will spread and it will end up in the cookies overlapping each other.
  • Bake the cookies for about 7-10 minutes. Keep on looking inside the oven to make sure that the cookies do not overcook. When you see the cookies puffing up, take them out.
  • Allow them to cool down before sprinkling them with powder sugar.

Be it an occasion or just your sweet tooth, bake these cookies and enjoy it with your kids or just by yourself as age is just a number.
