Chicken and Gravy Recipe

Ingredients

  • Chicken broth (1 1/4 cups)
  • Chicken breast (2) (cut in half)
  • Salt and pepper (according to taste)
  • Olive oil (1 tablespoon)
  • Flour (2 tablespoons)
  • Italian seasoning (1/4 teaspoon)
  • Onion powder (1/4 teaspoon)
  • Parsley (chopped)
  • Garlic powder (1/2 teaspoon)
  • Butter (1 tablespoon)

 

Instructions:

  • In a shallow bowl, take the chicken and cut it half so that you end up having 4 somewhat equal pieces of it.
  • Season it with salt and pepper and make sure to get both sides. Repeat the same with garlic powder and keep it aside.
  • Now take a pan and coat it with olive oil and one tablespoon of butter over medium heat for a few minutes so that the pan can heat up.
  • Time to add the chicken and cook it for 5-6 minutes so that you can see that beautiful golden brown on both sides.
  • Transfer the chicken and reduce the heat. Add the remaining butter and after it has melted, add your flour.
  • Make sure to keep on stirring so that no lumps are formed and cook for about a minute or so.
  • Now add the Italian seasoning and the onion powder to the pan.
  • Take the chicken that has been kept aside and add it to the pan and make sure to transfer any juices that have come out of the chicken while it was resting.
  • Let the sauce get thick and creamy while the chicken soaks up all the creamy texture of it. Keep the heat on low so that the chicken, as well as the sauce, doesn’t stick to the pan.
  • The last step is to season the dish again with salt and pepper and sprinkle a little parsley for the final look.
