Ingredients:

  • 1 onion (large) (chopped)
  • 5 carrots (medium) (chopped)
  • 6 garlic cloves (diced)
  • Kosher salt (according to taste)
  • 5 celery ribs (chopped)
  • 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 pounds of chicken breast (skinless and boneless)
  • 1/2 white wine
  • Sugar
  • Water (around 8 cups)
  • Frozen peas (one pound)
  • Parsley and thyme (chopped)
  • Bay leaves (around 2)

Ingredients for the dumplings

  1. Unsalted butter (4 tablespoons)
  2. All-purpose flour (2 cups)
  3. Kosher salt (according to taste)
  4. Black pepper and thyme (according to taste)
  5. Milk (3/4 cups)
  6. Baking powder (one tablespoon)

Instructions:

  1. Add all the vegetables to a buttered heavy-bottomed pot and stir them at intervals for about 10 minutes on the heat.
  2. After the onions have turned translucent, add your garlic cloves and let them sit for about a minute in the pot itself.
  3. Till this is happening, add your water as well as the white wine slowly to the vegetables.
  4. Proceed to add your chicken as well as the sugar and bay leaves to be cooked on low heat for about 25 minutes until the chicken is cooked.
